Once in a lifetime-horse. You know the saying, right? 'The' horse. That special one that you'll always remember because he or she has given you the experience or memory of a lifetime. Maybe it was your first pony, or your schoolmaster flying you into that next competition level while teaching you how to touch all the right buttons. Maybe it's that asshole that bucked you off more times that you could count, but helped you win that first championship title you worked so hard for. Or maybe it's just that one horse that taught you the most important lesson in your life... And even if I didn't realise it until much later, that's how it was for me when I met Dorée.
My adventure into the world of essential oils
The title may make it sound icky, but it really isn't. Today I want to share about my journey into the world of essential oils. And of course, it started with a horse. How else? I will not go into the details too much here, because Dorée deserves a lot more attention than a quick reference for my journey with essential oils. And in a few weeks, I will share our story and how she changed my entire life. Because she is just so much more than "just" a horse; she is "the" horse.
But first... Essential oils! YAY!
Here we are again. Holiday season; including too much food, too many annoying aunts and uncles at family get-togethers and too many slobbery kisses from too much alcohol consumed. Yuck. If I wanted a slobbery kiss, I can find it every day in the barn; thank you very much. It's also that time where people reflect on the past year and make those pesky New Year's resolutions. And this year, I'm no different in that aspect. Ugh. How mainstream I am becoming!
For years, I wanted to work with horses, but it's hard earning decent money as a stable worker, groom or rider for the young horses. Aside from that, the work is hard, the hours harsh and the pay is horrible. Despite all those negatives, I've done it all – loved it, hated it, quit the job, started again – then moved onto something else.
They say every journey starts with a single step. My journey towards this point started in 2015 and I've definitely come a long way since then. Looking back on the last 11 months of 2017, there have been some major changes in my life. Again. I've come to realise that I actually want people to know about the road I've been following so far, to read about the things I've been through, the experiences that have helped me to grow into the person I have become. Because I am proud of the things I've accomplished - and excited about the plans I have for the future - but it's been anything but easy. But such is life.
